In early February 2026, as part of the CAMCA project, employees of the Ilbirs Foundation conducted a field expedition to the high-altitude areas🏔️ of the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, where more than 20 interviews were conducted with livestock owners and herders.
This field trip is a continuation of work to study the current state of the ecological corridor connecting the country’s key specially protected natural areas. The data obtained will allow assessing the impact of grazing pressure on local ecosystems, as well as analyzing the challenges that shepherds are facing at high-altitude grazing zones☝🏻. At the same time, information on legal and illegal hunting will be assessed to determine the level of additional anthropogenic impact on wild animal populations. Data collection will soon continue in the steppe zones of the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.
