From May 12 to 16, the Ilbirs Foundation participated in a study visit to the Albanian Alps, organized by UNEP as part of a regional exchange project between Central Asia and the Western Balkans focused on climate-resilient management of protected areas.
The event brought together experts from Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Kyrgyzstan to discuss key challenges related to climate change, biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism, and community-based nature management.
Representing the Ilbirs Foundation, Kenzhekan Sultanbaeva delivered a presentation highlighting Kyrgyzstan’s experience in adapting to climate change in mountainous ecosystems, showcasing tools and approaches developed under the CAMCA project. The presentation sparked strong interest and served as a foundation for productive exchange on sustainable solutions for transboundary protected areas.
This visit marked an important step in strengthening regional cooperation, building professional networks, and joining efforts to protect nature in the face of growing climate challenges.
🌍 Nature knows no borders — and its protection requires collective action.
