Beekeeping as an Alternative Income Project

Shumkar Tor CBC purchased 50 bee boxes through the partnership of Ilbirs Foundation and the Beekeepers’ Association of the Kyrgyz Republic. The purchase was made within the framework of the Beekeeping As An Alternative Income Project financed by Panthera, an international environmental organization. After successfully completing five theoretical lessons on beekeeping and apiary (collection of beehives) maintenance in January, members of Shumkar Tor CBC were able practically use their knowledge to install apiaries in protective clothing. Even with the hot weather, participants did an excellent job setting up and calibrating the boxes.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all partners – participants and other organizations – who provided assistance with transportation and installation of these apiaries. Now we await the harvest in autumn!
