Within the framework of the GEF–UNDP project Integrated Community-Based Management of High-Value Mountain Ecosystems in Southern Kyrgyzstan for Multiple Environmental Benefits, the Ilbirs Foundation organized community consultations with residents of villages located near the proposed protected area in Chon-Alai district👥.

These meetings were designed to highlight the importance of safeguarding the unique ecosystems of the Pamir-Alai region⛰️, while also engaging local people in discussions about the potential benefits and advantages that the establishment of a nature park could bring to their communities.

In parallel with these outreach activities, household surveys are being carried out among people living in close proximity to the proposed site. The findings will help ensure that the planning and future establishment of the protected area reflect the needs, priorities, and perspectives of local communities☝🏻.
