One Health: Strengthening Collaboration for the Health of People, Animals, and the Environment
On 1–2 July 2026, the #CCHALKK project team participated in the National One Health Committee Coordination Meeting, held in the scenic Chon-Kemin Valley.
The primary objective of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration among Kyrgyzstan’s three key sectors—public health, veterinary services, and environmental protection. Close cooperation between these sectors is essential for effectively addressing today’s complex challenges, including climate change, infectious disease outbreaks, and other public health emergencies.
The meeting brought together representatives of three ministries, along with experts from international and national organizations. Key topics discussed included:
🔹 an intersectoral workforce preparedness plan for emergency response;
🔹 a strategy for intersectoral communication;
🔹 a monitoring framework for tracking the implementation of National Committee decisions;
🔹 the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support effective coordination among all stakeholders.
The Director of the Ilbirs Foundation also delivered a presentation, sharing the interim results of the #CCHALKK project. Implemented under the One Health approach, the project covers all seven regions of the Kyrgyz Republic. Its findings will support evidence-based policymaking and practical actions aimed at strengthening public health resilience in the face of adverse climate impacts.
The meeting was organized by FAO Kyrgyzstan as part of the project “Pandemic Fund (Kyrgyzstan): Pandemic Preparedness and Response Using the One Health Approach in Central Asia.”
🌿 The One Health approach brings together experts from multiple sectors to develop integrated solutions that protect the health of people, animals, and ecosystems. This collaborative model is becoming an increasingly important tool for strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s resilience to climate change and other emerging challenges.
