On March 4, 2025, the Ilbirs Foundation held its first regional meeting as part of the project «Implementation of Integrated Watershed Management for Strengthening Conservation in a Secure Key Areas from the Transboundary Western Tien Shan»

Representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, employees of the specially protected natural areas of Aksu-Jabagly, Padysha-Ata, and Ugam-Chatkal, as well as experts, participated in the event. The participants discussed how an integrated approach to watershed management can contribute to preserving the biodiversity of the region 🤝.

The main topics of the meeting included:

  • The need for joint management of water resources to preserve the ecosystems of the Western Tien Shan;
  • Identifying key problems and points of interaction;
  • The beginning of work on harmonizing conservation strategies;
  • Plans for further cooperation and joint watershed management.

This meeting was an important step in strengthening cross-border cooperation that will help improve climate change adaptation and preserve the natural heritage of the region!
