Field Research under the Project “Community Climate Health Amongst Livestock Keepers in Kyrgyzstan (CCHALKK)”
From October 13 to 17, 2025, the research team from KADK, the Ilbirs Public Foundation, and the Nossal Institute for Global Health (Australia) conducted the final pilot field visit in the Jalal-Abad Oblast.
In each community, researchers gathered the experiences and observations of local residents, including livestock keepers, healthcare workers, and community volunteers. At the end of the visit, the team presented their findings to community members, who participated in validating, challenging, and expanding on the researchers’ analysis.
The project is implemented in Kyrgyzstan in partnership with:
🌿 Nossal Institute for Global Health (University of Melbourne)
🌿 Association of Village Health Committees of Kyrgyzstan (KADK)
🌿 Ilbirs Public Foundation
The project is funded by the international charitable organization Wellcome.
CCHALKK aims to generate evidence that can be used to develop adaptation measures, strengthen public health, and promote sustainable livestock practices in the context of a changing climate.
The project has ethics approval from the Kyrgyz Republic National Ethics Committee and the University of Melbourne Human Research Ethics Committee.
