🌿 Russian specialists explored community engagement practices in Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬🤝🇷🇺

From October 16 to 19, the Ilbirs Foundation held the second part of the program “International Workshop and Experience Exchange on Cooperation between Protected Areas and Local Communities.”

🔹 Seven representatives of Russian protected areas (PAs) learned about the successful practices of community-based conservation groups — Shumkar-Tor in Chon-Kemin and Jashyl-Oroon in Toktogul.
🔹 The event also involved the Department of Biodiversity and Protected Areas of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the KR and the Chon-Kemin State Nature Park.

Participants visited the Shumkar-Tor observation site during a horseback excursion, a sea buckthorn plantation and beekeeping site in Tar-Suu village, a pilot reforestation area, and the Chychkan wildlife sanctuary, where they met with members of Jashyl-Oroon.

🎯 The main goal of the visit was to study Kyrgyzstan’s experience in engaging local communities in nature conservation and to exchange practical approaches to joint natural resource management.
