🌍 The Ilbirs Foundation continues its active work in studying diseases affecting wild ungulates in Kyrgyzstan 🦌.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Duysheev Kyrgyz Research Institute of Veterinary Science, as well as international veterinary experts from Spain and Cornell University (USA), and representatives of hunting reserves under the State Agency for Environment Protection and Forestry, a series of meetings and knowledge exchanges were held on the diagnosis and control of sarcoptic mange (scabies) in hoofed wildlife.
The exchange took place both in game reserves and parks in Spain—where years of persistent work helped overcome a sarcoptic mange outbreak among Iberian ibex—and in hunting grounds of the Issyk-Kul region in Kyrgyzstan.
🔬 Sarcoptic mange is a parasitic disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei mites, which can have a serious impact on the health and population numbers of wild animals.
📌 The aim of the project is to conduct comprehensive monitoring, including fieldwork and laboratory analysis, and to introduce sustainable disease management programs across Kyrgyzstan.
🤝 We believe that joint efforts and a scientific approach will contribute to preserving biodiversity and ecosystem health in our country.
