🌍 New Project Launched: Community Climate Health Amongst Livestock-Keeping Communities in Kyrgyzstan (CCHALKK)
On August 5, 2025, Bishkek hosted the First Meeting of the Project Steering Committee of the new project, implemented by the Ilbirs Foundation in partnership with the Nossal Institute for Global Health (University of Melbourne) and the Association of Village Health Committees of Kyrgyzstan (KADK), funded be Wellcome
The project aims to study how climate change affects the health of livestock-keeping communities in Kyrgyzstan– a region where livestock husbandry is a cornerstone of culture, food security, and livelihoods for thousands of families.
💡 The main goal is to create an evidence base that can be used guide effective policy and practical solutions aimed at protecting public health and strengthening community resilience in the face of climate challenges.
During the first meeting of the Project Steering Committee, participants – representatives of Government bodies, the scientific community, international organizations, and partner foundations – discussed the project’s goals and key outcomes, the role and responsibilities of the committee, as well as plans for the start-up phase of implementation.
Through the interdisciplinary One Health approach, the project will bring together experts in medicine, veterinary science, and environmental protection.
🤝 The Ilbirs Foundation expresses its gratitude to all partners and participants for their engagement and support of this initiative, aimed at enhancing the resilience and well-being of rural residents in the face of a changing climate.
